Recently, the “Splendid Bay Area — One Family” 2024 Lantern Festival Special Program, themed “A Day of Reunion, the Taste of Home”, came to a successful close. The program featured ingenious design and creative elements, utilizing a combination of large and small screens as well as cross-sea connections. Through the interplay of technology and art, it delivered a splendid Lingnan cultural feast to audiences both at home and abroad.

In terms of program design, Guangzhou TV not only invited hosts from 11 cities to taste the “lost delicacies” of Guangzhou on-site, exploring the flavors of their hometowns together, but also adopted a coordinated performance format involving 11 sub-venue cities.

At the Guangzhou venue in particular, the production team meticulously adopted the XR virtual production LED display solution provided by EXCO Vision. With its high-quality LED display system, the solution supported on-site XR virtual production, delivering a joyful, harmonious, and culturally rich audiovisual feast to audiences across the country.

A soaring dragon races across the sky, roaming free. Nearby, the “Little Waist” — Guangzhou’s iconic Canton Tower — stands silently, reaching toward the heavens.

Above the river, a magnificent drum stage spans the water, framed by rippling waves. Amid this breathtaking scene, several top-tier cultural and artistic performers join together in a melodious harmony. Their music lingering long in the air.

The Guangzhou venue’s main stage innovatively used XR virtual production technology. Powered by EXCO Vision’s cinematic-grade Apollo series, the stage perfectly captured the architectural essence of Lingnan and the cultural richness of the Greater Bay Area. The “one-click switch” digital scenes subtly reminded us that while time and space may change, art endures forever.

XR Technology Shines

Guangzhou TV’s Lantern Festival program was brimming with creativity. In terms of format, it adopted a coordinated multi-venue performance model, opening up the integration and sharing of media and cultural resources across different regions. In terms of content, it featured on-site explorations, songs, dances, and cultural performances. Each program delivered with profound cultural characteristics.

Over the years, Guangzhou TV has consistently demonstrated its commitment to culture and innovation to art. The XR virtual production LED displays that EXCO Vision provided for this program are aligned with this. Among all the performances, the most visually captivating show was the song and dance piece “Flower Enchantress, Dewy Elegance”. The main stage backdrop seamlessly merged with the XR virtual production set: a bright moon hung high, overlooking the earth, while twinkling stars played in delightful contrast with the scattered light spots on the ground. The dancers, like graceful fairies, moved with ethereal beauty, their every gesture radiating a delicate and enchanting charm.
